The term "Academy" originates from an olive grove near Athens, where Plato and the local community engaged in knowledge exchange. In this context, the primary design goal has been to create spaces that facilitate socialization and multidimensional communication within educational environments.
Rather than being solely about knowledge transmission, the proposed academic setting fosters discussion, inquiry, and analysis through diverse principles, methods, and practices. The spatial design aims to accommodate both the current and future needs of a dynamic learning and teaching community.
In this design approach, socialization is envisioned as a means to enrich both the intellectual exchange within the academy and the users' everyday interactions. The faculty is conceived as a social hub, starting from the street level and extending across different elevations, integrating diverse spaces that bring users together. The goal is to establish a social spine that optimizes collective and individual practices while blurring the boundary between indoor and outdoor spaces.
